Quick Start
Welcome to Stashmark! This guide will get you up and running in a few minutes.
Using the hosted version
The fastest way to start is with the hosted version at app.stashmark.app.
- Create an account — Sign up with your email or Google account.
- Install the extension — Get the browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Save your first bookmark — Click the Stashmark icon in your browser toolbar on any page.
Adding bookmarks
There are several ways to add bookmarks:
- Browser extension — Click the extension icon or use the keyboard shortcut.
- Web app — Click the "+" button and paste a URL.
- API — Use the API with a personal access token.
Organizing bookmarks
Folders
Create folders to group related bookmarks. Each bookmark can belong to one folder.
Tags
Add tags to bookmarks for flexible categorization. A bookmark can have multiple tags.
Favorites
Mark bookmarks as favorites for quick access. Favorite bookmarks appear in a dedicated view.
Highlighting text
Select text on any bookmarked page and save it as a highlight. Highlights are saved with the bookmark and can be viewed in the app.
Preserving pages
Link preservation saves a readable copy of the page content, so you can read it even if the original page goes down.
When you save a bookmark, Stashmark can automatically preserve the page content. This creates a clean, readable version you can access anytime — even if the original page disappears.
